How it works
-
Uno.
The story happens where you are.
As you pass the Artigas monument you learn that the Ciudadela's chapel stood right there, and that the dead of the King's time were buried under its floor.
-
Dos.
Stop, and there's more.
Sit on a bench in the Plaza Matriz and the story goes back to 1857: yellow fever, every door shut, funeral carts you could hear four blocks away. Keep walking and you still get what matters.
-
Tres.
No need to check the map.
When to leave the Teatro Solís and head up to the Plaza Matriz, the story itself tells you. Your phone can stay in your pocket.
Before you set out
- Where you start and finish

- 40 minutes
- In the evening, between 8 and 11 pm. The whole route is on lit streets.
- The walk costs $U 390
- Two of you can share one booking and one phone, an earbud each. The app is free and installs from our site, no App Store or Google Play.
- Headphones, any pair
- Best if you can still hear the street. The street is part of the walk too.
- Signal or no signal
- With data, it just plays. To walk without signal, download it before you go and the whole walk stays on your phone.
