What lies underneath
Three things along the way. The rest is waiting on the rambla.
-
Buxareo
At this end of the beach, the Pocitos stream used to meet the river. Today it runs through a pipe.
-
Between José Martí and Brasil
A hotel once stood on this beach, with a pier out over the river. The storm of 1923 took the pier. Its piles are still there, under the sand.
-
Plaza Gomensoro
The sea used to come up to the top of the square, and the neighbours had their own beach there.
How it works
-
Uno.
It plays where you are.
Each thing starts when you reach its place: the Buxareo part on the corner of Buxareo, the Plaza Gomensoro part across from the square.
-
Dos.
Stop, and there's more.
No guide, no group. Lean on the sea wall to watch the sand and it keeps going; walk on and you've already heard what matters.
-
Tres.
No need to check the map.
The water stays on your left the whole way. When it's time to leave the rambla for Trouville point, the walk tells you itself.
